I came across this place while doing some research on Steak Sandwiches that came with Pizza Sauce on them. Now you might be saying to yourself “What in heck is he talking about, Steak sandwich with Pizza Sauce”, well as a kid the local tavern (Lorenzo’s) made a steak sandwich that was in a hot dog roll, and had pizza sauce on top, and well, I LOVE IT, and was hoping to find a place that cooked them like this. So, surfing the web I cam across morrettes king steak in Schenectady, NY., which is just down the road from where I was born and raised the first part of my youth – Amsterdam, NY.
Lanza’s as such, is no longer, but boy have the boys done well. After their folks past away (or maybe when the folks got older and turned the place over to the boys), not sure when their little empire started to take place, but from 1 Tavern to 5 locations… great job, my hats off to Joe and Larry (there are 9 kids, I known these 2 the best)

I digress, as this is about Morrettes, not Lanzis. So after the first visit our grandson and I went back a few times for lunch. Yeah a bit of a drive for lunch, (Auburn, ME to NY) but at the time our grandson was great with “Road-trips”. We ended up playing frisbee golf each time, either in NH or NY. It made for long days, but fun time with him. The last 2 times we did it, we played a bit more frisbee golf so we stayed over-night. One of the last times we stayed over-night we went to Malta, NY to play and that was nice. We stayed at Home2Suites and were able to get in a few games before heading back home.
