Intercourse PA, Kitchen Kettle Village +

Kitchen Kettle Village is a place we frequent pretty regularly in our travels. It’s very convenient when going down south or when coming back from down south. Time wise for us this is about 5-7 hours into most trips and time to think about calling it a night. It’s a shopping area set aside for tourist, and run by Amish folks, with a ton of cool things to browse and purchase if you are so incline (we are, damn it:) ).

With over 40 shops, they’re likely to be something for anyone or everyone (sorry John B) And with plenty of parking on-site, you’ve only got to walk a short distance to put some of the bags in your vehicle and get back to more shopping.

There are shops across the street and all along the highway for 1 mile or so in either direction. It’s filled with Amish stores and shops offering food, furnitures and clothing. One we ALWAYS stop at, is located just across the street from the village shops and it’s called, Stoltzfus Meats & Deli. Our stops here consist of stocking up on Amish butter, a triple berry loaf, some beef jerky, candy, Fresh Squeezed OJ, a Lemond-aid, both regular and strawberry, and often a meal at the cafe’ on site before hitting the road or heading back to our hotel.

Intercourse is just a short drive to Lancaster area, which if filled with all kinds of things to do and see. One we try to get in each time we visit is the Lancaster Farmers Market. It’s big and filled with all kinds of great shops and things to eat. With over 65 stand holders, there is something for everyone here. Established in 1730, and still fresh, Lancaster Central Market is a blend of old world and new – offering the best of Lancaster County under one historic roof. Baked Goods and Sweets (a dozen or so vendors), Meat, Poultry & Fish (4+ Vendors), Produce (9+ Vendors), Ready to eat Foods (23 + Vendors) and flowers (2-3 Vendors) runs out the stops you’ll want to make, while visiting the area.

Now back to the Intercourse area, has you checking out the “Bird in-hand Market” a short drive down the road from Intercourse. We stop here for a few reasons when we are in the area. Chocolates from Groff’s  Chocolates (my favorite stop), Raisin Bread is another item I try to pickup, some Fresh Squeezed, Ciders and Lemonades are always on my list, along with Candy, Coffee, and assorted other items to keep our bellies filled. Groff’s was close the last time through, so I checked on line and found out that their factory was opened so “Road Trip” was had:) Got 5 containers of Milk Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers and a few other things.
