Barbara Jeans Restaurant

We visited this fine place on our first visit to St. Simons Island, GA a few weeks back, we have since gone a second time because the food is so good!

Barbara Jeans Restaurant & Bar is located in the heart of St Simons Island PIER downtown. Yes, there are a few downtowns or villages as they like to call them, so be sure to go to the one with the Pier if you want to visit this fine establishment.

Our first visit, my wife had Crab Cakes and She Crab Soup, both of which she said were some of the best she’s ever had (the She Crab Soup, she said IS the Best she’s ever had!). I had Chicken Tenders, a BIG Baked Potato and a Plate of Tomatoes with homemade Citrus Dressing. Now one of the things they say is you will NOT leave hungry or thirsty after a meal at Barbara Jeans … damned if they aren’t right. Most drinks are 32oz with FREE refills, and as for the chicken tenders, it was 4 count ’em 4 Chicken Breast to an order, and tasty – wholly crap are they tasty! The bake potato was almost as big as a football and stuff with cheese, bacon and sour creme and lots of butter:) We had sweet ice tea and pink lemonade for our beverages.

We both got left-over bags (in case doggie bags offense you). I made a full meal of Chicken Parmesan for dinner the next day, and I’ll be damned if the chicken wasn’t still as moist and stay as the day before.. Simply put, these are the tastiest, most tender chicken tenders ever.

So to end our first visit, we knew it wasn’t going to be our last!

We were right as we went back a few weeks later. Mostly to check the area out more, as a possible location for next year (positive thoughts folks, positive thoughts!)

We got here around lunch time, so you guessed it, Barbara Jeans here we come. I mean, there was a chance we got lucky the first time here so we decided to find out for ourselves. It Turns out we didn’t get lucky, the 2nd time around, the food was just as good. Now some of the meal was the same as last time, seeing it was so good, why mess with success:) She started with a cub of She Crab Soup and for her meal went with Fish Nuggets, Fries and a salad. Damned if they weren’t some of the tastiest, tender fish nuggets ever. How ever they make their batter for the fish, and chicken, it’s some of the crunchiest, tastiest batter we’ve ever put in our mouths. I went with a plate of tomatoes instead of salad (can’r get me enough tomatoes:), my meal was chicken fired chicken and mashed potatoes, and a large pink lemonade. We both managed to eat almost all of our meals so no left-over bags needed this time around.

I keep forgetting to take these photo’s before I dig in, and get our arms out of the way. Taking pics isn’t why we eat:)

So yes, our second visit here was as good as our first, and should we come back, this will be one of our first stops.
